Class 5 (Year 3 & 4)
Welcome to Class 5
Class 5’s teacher this year is Miss Walters and we are very fortunate to also have the support of Miss Smith and Mrs Marcer. We are incredibly excited to get to know your child and work alongside them this year.
In Class 5, we love learning and having fun! It is our aim to inspire your children to be curious, enjoy discovering new things and look forward to coming to school each day. In our supportive and caring environment, children are challenged to build on their learning skills and reach their full potential through our exciting creative curriculum.
This year, we will continue to develop our creative curriculum, offering new and exciting opportunities for your child to thrive across a range of topics. Equally, we will focus on helping children become kind, respectful and confident individuals, ensuring that Class 5 is a positive, welcoming learning environment for everyone.
Throughout years 3 and 4, your child will be encouraged to strengthen their ‘character muscles,’ recognising and celebrating their own and others’ unique strengths. These skills will help them work effectively as a team and make the most of their learning adventures.
We cannot wait to work hard, have fun, and get to know each other. With your support at home, we know this year is going to be absolutely amazing!
Please take a look at the attached ‘End of Year Expectations’ leaflets to see the skills and knowledge your child should aim to achieve by the end of Year 3 and 4.

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.
They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.
There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!

Knowledge Organiser
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.
We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
