Class 4 (Year 3)

Welcome to Class 4
The teaching team this year is Miss Tisdell who will be supported by Mrs Wintle. Mrs Champlin will also cover PPA every Thursday afternoon. Mrs Wintle will support the children’s learning every day. We will ensure that all the children are happy, develop a love of learning and allow children to be the best version of themselves. We are all very much looking forward to working with your child this year. After working with your children in Year 2, both Miss Tisdell and Mrs Wintle have ensured the children have settled in well to Year 3.

Moving into Key stage 2, it is an opportunity for many of the children to develop their character muscles much further. Becoming more independent and responsible for their learning, taking on further challenges and pushing themselves to achieve in school. They will build on the learning in Year 2, having a real push this year on passion for learning. We will deliver the curriculum in a way that excites the children and enables them to flourish to their full potential.

Within Year 3, the children will have a range of opportunities to explore in depth Learning Adventures. We hope these adventures inspire and encourage children to develop a love for learning.

Our expectations are for all children to take pride in the work that they produce and show how proud they are of their own personal achievements in all areas of school life. We also strive to generate a good home-school partnership and we will keep you up to date with some of the learning that is taking place in class using Class Dojo.

Please have a look at the ‘End Of Year Expectations’ leaflets attached below to see what skills and knowledge children should have acquired by the end of each year group.

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.

They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.

There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!

Knowledge Organiser
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.

We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
