Remote Learning – Orchard Primary School

    Remote Learning Provision

At Orchard Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all children can continue their learning in the event of a short-term school closure or when pupils are unable to attend school.

Remote learning will be provided through the ClassDojo platform, which will be used as the main method of communication between school, pupils and families.

NB. In the event of a longer-term national or local lockdown, remote learning will be delivered via Google Classroom.

    How Learning Will Be Set

Teachers will post learning activities and guidance on Class Dojo. Work will largely consist of:

    • A Maths task
    • An English task
    • Completing activities from the current homework menu
    • Daily reading
    • Practising multiplication skills using Times Tables Rock Stars

Additional activities or guidance may also be shared by class teachers where appropriate.

    Expectations for Pupils

    We encourage pupils to:

    • Access Class Dojo regularly
    • Complete tasks to the best of their ability
    • Read every day
    • Spend time practising times tables on Times Tables Rock Stars
    • Ask for help through Class Dojo if they are unsure about any task

    Expectations for Parents and Carers

Parents and carers can support remote learning by:

    • Helping children establish a daily routine
    • Encouraging regular reading and learning
    • Checking Class Dojo for updates and messages
    • Contacting the school if support is needed

    Communication

Teachers will use Class Dojo to:

    • Share learning activities
    • Provide announcements and updates
    • Respond to questions where possible
    • Celebrate children’s efforts and achievements

If you experience any difficulties accessing remote learning, please contact the school office for support.

Thank you for your continued support in helping children continue their learning at home.
