Class 6 (Year 3 & 4)
Welcome to Class 6
Welcome to Class 6. This year's teaching team is Mr Patching, Miss Hudspith, Miss Dahle, Mrs Mycroft and Mrs Charity.
We love learning and making it fun! Our focus for the children in Class 6 is helping them to be resilient, independent people, who really value hard work and always try their best. We want them to enjoy learning and finding out about new things, and be proud of their progress, especially if it’s been a challenge and they’ve had to overcome something tricky!
We learn with a smile on our faces in Class 6, but our expectations of effort and behaviour are very high indeed. Year 3 is a huge step up from Year 2 and Year 4 is another step up from Y3 but with your support at home, we know they’ll do a great job!
Please take a look at the end-of-year expectations for Year 3 and Year 4 to give you an idea of what the children should be able to achieve by the end of the year. We’re going to be working hard and learning a lot!

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.
They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.
There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!
Knowledge Organiser
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.
We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
