Class 6 - Y4
Welcome to Class 6
Welcome to Class 6. The teaching team this year is Mrs Sheldon and Mrs Astle (who will cover PPA every Thursday afternoon and every other Monday morning for Mrs Sheldon’s leadership time as English Subject Leader). We are also lucky to have the support of Mr Morant every morning. We are all very much looking forward to working with your child.
As responsible and proud members of Orchard Primary School, we celebrate our unique individuals and our ability to learn together as a team. We thoroughly enjoy learning and take great pride in our learning through our creative curriculum.
We all strive to be a kind and caring class that respects people’s views and is inclusive to all pupils. In addition, we promote our school values both in school and out in the wider community, celebrating diversity and individuality. The children in Class 6, and their teacher, have very high expectations of themselves and always try their ‘Orchard Best’!
We are a special group of unique individuals, with many varying talents, that work together.
Please have a look at the ‘End Of Year Expectations’ leaflets attached below to see what skills and knowledge children should have acquired by the end of each year group.

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.
They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.
There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!
Knowledge Organiser
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.
We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
