Class 10 (Year 6)
Welcome to Class 10
Class 10’s teacher is Miss Brown and we are very fortunate to also have the support of Ms Hull and Miss Smith. We are all very much looking forward to working with your child!
We are incredibly proud to be a part of Orchard Primary School and we are determined to show our best in all that we do and be the best that we can be. In Class 10, we strive to always show kindness, respect, determination, perseverance, and hard work: believing that with these in mind, we will be successful and happy learners. One of the things we love best about being in Y6 is having more responsibility within the school community. We really enjoy our various roles within the school, showing what fantastic role models we can be for the younger pupils.
Please have a look at the ‘End Of Year Expectations’ leaflet below to see what skills and knowledge we should have acquired by the end of the year.

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.
They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.
There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!

Knowledge Organiser
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.
We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
