Welcome to Class 5

The teaching team this year will be led by Miss Brown, supported daily by Mrs Brain and Miss Head. Mrs Reece will also teach the class every Monday afternoon for PPA. Together, we will ensure that all children feel happy, nurtured and inspired to develop a genuine love of learning, enabling them to become the very best version of themselves. We are all very much looking forward to working with your child this year.

As the children move into Key Stage 2, they have a wonderful opportunity to deepen their character values. They will begin to take greater responsibility for their learning, show increased independence, embrace new challenges and push themselves to achieve their very best. Building on their previous learning, we will place a strong emphasis on developing a real passion for learning. Our curriculum will be delivered in a way that excites, motivates and enables every child to flourish.

In Years 3 and 4, pupils will explore a range of rich and engaging Learning Adventures. These adventures are designed to spark curiosity, inspire creativity and encourage children to develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our expectations are that all children take pride in the work they produce and feel confident in celebrating their personal achievements across all areas of school life. We also value a strong home–school partnership and will keep you updated with classroom learning through Class Dojo.

Homework Menu & Homework Books

Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.

They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.

There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!

 

Knowledge Organiser

A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learnt by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.

We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
